OperaLab

OperaLab is a think tank for culture launched in October 2012 by the Teatr Wielki - Polish National Opera in close association with BMW. The concept is strongly linked with the Teatr Wielki’s identity, its rich and multilayered history. The platform has been devised to fuse artistic experimentation with other disciplines, bring together art and technology. The project will unfold over the long term, embracing a variety of actions in the course of the next few years.
The concept
OperaLab is an interdisciplinary project: part-gallery, part-think-tank, devised to provide a space for debate on the changing image of the city and the role of art as a highly creative discipline that influences the city’s image today.
OperaLab is a platform for artistic experimentation with form and concept, a place where art meets technology, and a space for dialogue between different visions of contemporary city, shaped by art and discussion on contemporary design, as an effective instrument of transporting ideas. Intellectual circulation of this kind corresponds with the latest developments in art.
