Launched in the 2005/06 season, Territories is a series of presentations of contemporary music — a genre that redifines itself today, conquering new territories, mapping new senses and venturing into new aesthetics.
The series embraces renowned contemporary msuic works and debuts by Polish composers; unknown pieces and the iconing works of the avant-garde; debuts from Polish directors and productions devised by leading European artists.
In the last three seasons — 2012/13, 2013/14 and 2014/15 — the series had a new addition — The ‘P’ Project, as part of which the Teatr Wielki commissions and stages opera debuts from young Polish composers.
Opera is alive and kicking; it’s glimpsing at us with a cybernetic eye of the Phoenix.
