Alla Polacca Choir
Children's songs and choral pieces by Polish and international composers
Led by Dr Anna Bednarska, the Alla Polacca Choir based at the Teatr Wielki in Warsaw performs music of all periods and regularly participates in national and international choral competitions. It has won the Grand Prix of the 19th edition of Cantio Lodziensis in Łódź (2016), two Gold Diplomas at the 52nd International Choral Music Festival in Międzyzdroje (2017), first and second prizes at the 9th Cracovia Cantans competition(2018), two third prizes at the Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod (2019), first prize at the 22nd edition of Cantio Lodziensis (2019), and first prize at the 33 International Festival of Religious Music in Rumia (2021).
The ensemble has performed at the Supreme Administrative Court of Poland, Warsaw Uprising Museum, embassy of Japan in Warsaw, Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Warsaw, Sejm and Senate of Poland, Fryderyk Chopin University in Warsaw, POLIN Museum of the History of Polish Jews, Polish Radio's Agnieszka Osiecka and Witold Lutosławski music studios, Poznań Philharmonic Hall, and Warsaw Philharmonic Hall.
The choir has also taken part in educational shows staged at the Polish National Opera, including A Midsummer Night's Dream and I Love Moniuszko.
Piotr Beczała can be likened to a Bugatti Chiron among supercars – the only one, unique, worth every penny. He seems to have performed everywhere that is worth aspiring to, with everyone who is worth working with, and he has sung – naturally – every role worthy of his talent. This time he will perform with the chorus of the Polish National Opera chorus. We can expect works from his latest albums. We do not vouch for Moniuszko, but Wager’s Lohengrin – certainly. And of courseVincerò. The title turned out prophetic, by the way: it brought our tenor the Erwin Piscator Award 2020 (for his work on Moniuszko’s and Karłowicz’s pieces), and that is in spite of the coronavirus pandemic. The award ceremony will take place in the late autumn. Soon after the honour is bestowed upon him in New York, a great concert awaits us in Warsaw. The insiders promise ‘verismo and late Wagner’. To facilitate reception, choreography is to be kept to a minimum.
