Farewell to Liam Scarlett

He was a great talent of British ballet. To us he gave a beautiful choreographic take on Chopin’s Concerto in E minor. Liam Scarlett died on 16 April 2021 in his hometown of Ipswich. He was only 35.

The Polish National Opera is seeking dancers/actors to appear in a production of Halka directed by Mariusz Treliński and choreographed by Tomasz Wygoda to open in the 2019/20 season in Vienna and Warsaw.

FELIKS MALINOWSKI DIED IN PARIS

Feliks Malinowski, our 1960s danseur noble, died on 30 August 2018 in Paris at the age of 82. He debuted on the Warsaw stage in 1959 and was Teatr Wielki’s first soloist from 1966 to 1970.

Summertime at the Teatr Wielki

The season is almost over, yet the Teatr Wielki – Polish National Opera does not close its doors for visitors! Two exhibitions are still on, and we are holding special meetings for those interested in the opera house’s architecture and history.

For Krzysztof Pastor the year 2016 was abundant in successes. The director of the Polish National Ballet was honoured with the ZAIKS Authors Association Award for his choreographic achievements and saw many of his works being presented at home and abroad.

„Echoes of Time” in Vilnius

Following an invitation from the Lithuanian National Opera and Ballet Theatre, on 4 and 5 December 2013 the Polish National Ballet is performing in Vilnius.

23 November 2013 is Krzysztof Penderecki’s 80th birthday. As part of the celebration, the Teatr Wielki – Polish National Opera will open its 2013/14 season with a new version of „The Devils of Loudun”.

Yuka Ebihara - first soloist of the PNB

Yuka Ebihara studied in China, Japan, and Canada where she graduated from the Goh Ballet Academy in Vancouver in 2005 and was one of the leading soloists of the Goh Ballet Youth Company.

„Hamlet” Opens the Season

The Polish National Ballet is opening its 2013/14 season on the Chamber Stage. This is where Jacek Tyski is producing his Hamlet to music from a selection of works by Ludwig van Beethoven.

PNB at Belweder

A great honour befell the artists of the Polish National Ballet at the end of the season. Polish First Lady Anna Komorowska invited them to Belweder (the presidential residence) to present a special programme to the Polish president’s guests.

Announcing the PNB’s 2013/14 season

Krzysztof Pastor, the director of the Polish National Ballet, recently announced the company’s plans for the 2013/14 season. As many as four ballet premieres will take place on the Teatr Wielki’s two stages.
