The Bull leaves the Palace

The Franciszek Starowieyski’s exhibition is nearing its finale, closing on 15 November. Titled At the Bull’s Palace, it showcases posters, graphic designs, paintings, and set designs for the opera and theatre by the artist, aka Jan Byk (Polish for Bull). Especially for the occassion, the Teatr Wielki’s Opera Gallery was modelled to resemble the interiors of the baroque Palace of the Kraków Bishops in Kielce.

Those who are not fully convinced whether they should visit the Bull at the Palace or not, should perhaps spare a minute or two watching an excerpt of Kultura do kwadratu (Culture to the Power of 2) featuring the exhibition’s curator, Marcin Fedisz, talking about Franciszek Starowieyski – the first Polish artist who had a monograph exhibition at the Museum of Modern Art in New York.
