CONCERT IN HONOUR OF KRYSTYNA SZOSTEK-RADKOWA

Concert commemorating 60 years of Krystyna Szostek-Radkowa’s artistic career

  • ca. 2 h 30 min. (one intermission)

Duration:

In the intermission Agata Tuszyńska will be signing her book Jamnikarium in the foyer downstairs. The book will by available at our opera shop.

A strong, warm voice with a sensual and clear sound which conquered opera houses, conductors, composers, critics and the public all around. The artist had a great command of it and wielded it majestically, even royally. She appeared on the most important stages of Italy, France, Germany, Austria, Russia and the Americas. Her wide repertoire included pieces by Brahms, Verdi, Wagner, Tchaikovsky, Moniuszko and Baird. Throughout her forty-year long career at Teatr Wielki – Polish National Opera Krystyna Szostek-Radkowa created unforgettable roles – regardless of whether she was wearing a nun’s habit in the premiere of Penderecki’s The Devils of Loudun, a gypsy scarf in Bizet’s Carmen, a kimono in Puccini’s Madame Butterfly or a traditional Polish split-sleeve robe (known as a kontush) in Moniuszko’s The Haunted Manor. As a teacher at the Academy of Music she trained an entire generation of currently celebrated singers. A true prima donna assoluta. An incomparable artist. For with what one could compare such talent and genius?
