The opera house’s dyer’s workshop is the only facility of this kind in Warsaw. The shop’s team dye fabrics as well as props and scenic elements: hair, feather, or even banknotes. Dying affects a fabric’s texture, and the colours are deeper than those created by industrial processes. Apart from working on the production of new operas and ballets, the dyers undertake special tasks, such as creating fabrics for films, e.g. The Pianist directed by Steven Spielberg, or Schindler’s List directed by Roman Polański.
