Chopin Without a Piano is the first time that both of Chopin's concertos are performed without the piano parts. They have been replaced with a text written by Barbara Wysocka and Michał Zadara as an equivalent of the piano part, its literary reflection, as well as a critical contemplation of the reception of Chopin's pieces. On the stage we see Barbara Wysocka transcribing the piano parts into the language of acting, telling the audience, step by step, what the piano is doing. The script for the show is based on interviews with prominent pianists, musicology papers, biographies, Chopin's letters, and philosophic and theoretic works. It is thus a verbal counterpart of the piano parts, a guide through the concertos, their description and a commentary. The show was awarded the Grand Prix of the Kontrapunkt festival in Szczecin in 2014.
