Gala Concert by the Strauss Festival Orchestra
A "Supposed Miracle, or Cracovians and Mountaineers" - first Polish opera produced by "Mazowsze" ensemble, featuring invited guests
Return to the gaiety and glamour of 19th century Vienna with this sparkling gala concert of famous waltzes, polkas and marches by the 'Waltz King', Johann Strauss. The music that enthralled Viennese society has gained fresh life at the renowned New Year's Day concerts in modern Vienna, making these irresistible tunes more popular than ever before. You'll be swept along by the exhilarating melodies of favourites such as the Emperor Waltz, Tales from the Vienna Woods, the Thunder and Lightning Polka and the overture to Die Fledermaus, before the concert reaches its traditional finale – the most famous waltz of all, the Blue Danube, and the stirring Radetsky March, complete with audience accompaniment.
The Strauss Festival Orchestra, celebrated for its virtuoso interpretation of the music of the Strauss family, has been giving highly-acclaimed concerts across Europe for more than 20 years. The musicians are joined here by the Strauss Festival Ballet Ensemble, whose romantic costumes and fleet-footed choreography will transport you straight to the glamorous whirl of a Viennese ballroom and set you dancing all the way home.
