Triple bill of ballets

Guest appearance at the Centre for the Meeting of Cultures in Lublin
as part of the 20th International Dance Theatre Festival

For their first guest appearance in Lublin, south-east Poland, the Polish National Ballet has chosen a special artistic programme consisting of three ballets from its rich repertoire: Mikhail Fokin’s neo-romantic Chopiniana and two contemporary choreographies by the company’s director, Krzysztof Pastor, Moving Rooms and Bolero.

'Fokin’s Chopiniana offers the quintessence of romantic ballet: variations and two pas de deux. Its finale is an explosion of motion that brings to mind fast river current. It is a dancing cascade of events unfolding in limelight. Chopiniana is doubtless one of the most poetic ballets of the 20th century, perhaps of all time.' (Cyril W. Beaumont)

'[When staging Moving Rooms in Poland for the first time] I decided to keep the original, English title I gave the ballet when I created it in 2008 for the Dutch National Ballet in Amsterdam. By Moving Rooms I meant shifting spaces. The piece is a play of moods and emotions presented against the backdrop of dynamic lightning.' (Krzysztof Pastor)
