Concert in honour of Wiesław Ochman
80th Birthday Jubilee Concert
Maestro Wiesław Ochman. Excellent tenor. The first Polish singer since Jan Kiepura’s times to have won great international fame. He has appeared on the most important operatic stages of the world: in Barcelona, Berlin, Munich, Madrid, Moscow, Hamburg, Paris, Rome, Chicago, San Francisco, Buenos Aires, Madrid, Moscow, Rome, Seville, Vienna and also – as one of few tenors from outside Italy – at Milan’s La Scala and New York’s Metropolitan Opera. He has worked with the greatest conductors, headed by Herbert von Karajan and Karl Böhm. He has recorded for the most important labels, such as Deutsche Grammophon, Polydor, EMI and Decca. In Warsaw’s Teatr Wielki he debuted with the role of Jontek in Moniuszko’s Halka, which brought him the highest critical acclaim in Poland and abroad. His artistic experience found its continuation and success in his work as a director. Apart from opera, the artist’s great passion is painting, and his works have been displayed in numerous exhibitions. The extraordinary evening with Wiesław Ochman in the lead role is a chance to look great art in the eye.
