Gianandrea Noseda and London Symphony Orchestra
Concert
The Londoners. This orchestra needs no introduction. Over a hundred years of tradition, professionalism and invariably great sound. For generations they have been at the forefront of the best and most active orchestras in the world. The LSO is Resident Orchestra at the Barbican in the City of London, where it gives 70 symphonic concerts every year, and performs a further 70 concerts worldwide on tour. LSO Discovery, the orchestra's community and education programme based at LSO St Luke's, brings the work of the LSO to all parts of society and engages with 60,000 people every year. The ensemble is also famous for recording soundtracks for such well-known movies as Star Wars, The Sound of Music, Titanic and Harry Potter, while their relationship with cinema reaches as far as the distant history of silent film. During their Warsaw concert, however, they will treat the audience to a selection of classical music pieces: Bianca da Molena by Karłowicz, Chopin’s Piano Concerto No. 2 in F minor as well as Shostakovich’s Symphony No. 8 in C minor. The concert will be conducted by Gianandrea Noseda, the chief guest conductor of the LSO, music director of the National Symphony Orchestra, Washington and Teatro Regio, Turin, and winner of the 2016 International Opera Award for Best Conductor. With Nikolaï Lugansky at the piano.
