Celebrating 10 Years of the Polish National Ballet

'I would only believe in a god who could dance.' wrote Nietzsche in Thus Spoke Zarathustra. Krzysztof Pastor – the great choreographer previously associated with Het Nationale Ballet in Amsterdam – believed in the Polish ballet. Ten years ago he returned to the country and together with Paweł Chynowski initiated the autonomy of the National Polish Ballet. He became its artistic leader and with the support of the Teatr Wielki’s general director, Waldemar Dąbrowski, he raised it to the rank of the National Opera’s equal partner. In occasion of the tenth anniversary of the Warsaw ballet company operating in these new organizational conditions, Krzysztof Pastor announced a festive ballet gala with the participation of foreign stars. It will be the essence of what constitutes the splendour of the Polish National Ballet, of which he himself says: 'I can see the journey we have been on together, and how wonderfully our company is developing. I’m proud of its achievements and the challenges it takes up, which put it on par with the best companies in the world'. This unique gala evening will be enhanced by the presence of the Orchestra of the Teatr Wielki – Polish National Opera, conducted by the celebrated Ukrainian ballet conductor, Alexei Baklan.
