The Practice of Imagination with Władysław Hasior
Workshops accompanying the Władysław Hasior exhibition at the Opera Gallery
The workshops for younger children seek to 'unlock the capital of poetry' which, according to Hasior, each and every one of us has. The artist used a variety of materials, because he believed that the associations they spark off enable the beholder to experience art in a more comprehensive way. He called his work 'the practice of imagination'. In the workshop, we will try to hold such a practice and create assemblages that tell our own stories.
Older children will be encouraged to interpret selected Hasior works based on their object labels. Working on his pieces, the artist started off with the visual side of things and ended with their meaning. During the workshops we will explore the process of making assemblages and try to find out what they can tell us today.
