Excellent French pianist François-Frédéric Guy recorded a complete cycle of five piano concertos with Sinfonia Varsovia in 2019 in preparation for Beethoven’s 250th birthday. Today, you will hear the live performance of Beethoven’s first two concertos. The concert’s humorous title doesn’t just refer to the opportunity to listen to two pieces at a single… concert, which is not so common. Both concertos were published in the same year, 1801, two in one, but in reverse order of writing. So, the Second is actually the First, and vice versa. Both pieces were probably premiered by the young virtuoso on 29 March 1795 at the Burgtheater and became his pass to the Viennese music scene. Two in one…
