Poetry and music used to be practically inseparable. Great poetry, although capable of existing without music, has been tempting artists to co-create works that appear to be fuller, complemented with a melody other than the melody of the words themselves. Combined with Romantic music, Romantic poetry was and still is a source of new experiences.

You can read Mickiewicz silently. But listening to his poetry, reading it aloud, makes a different, deeper impression. Singing Mickiewicz? Mickiewicz combined with the original sound of the marimba, a rarely heard, wonderfully resonant instrument? That is an extraordinary, compelling experience.

This great poetry continues to reinvent itself for our ears. Here, enriched by music, it allows us to discover conspicuous meanings.

In The Great Improvisation Konrad places his hands 'on stars as if they were goblets of a glass harmonica' to evoke in our minds the now forgotten, nigh-on astral sounds of the wonderfully complex instrument. I believe that if Mickiewicz had a chance to hear the sound of the marimba, especially if it accompanied his poetry, he would get a sense of remarkable harmony.

The album Mickiewicz na trzy głosy contains 11 songs, settings of the Bard's sonnets, are the first-ever cycle composed for two marimbas and baritone. Combined with the the classic song form, the instrument's original timbre adds a new dimension to the poetry.
