Creative workshop inspired by Antoni Fałat painting
For children aged 7–12
What does the gloom hide?
They say Antoni Fałat's paintings are gloomy. And weird. It's true, the colours are mostly dark, the figures do not look like people usually do and they sometimes give you a strange stare. Should we be afraid or try to solve the mystery? What's the story with these paintings? What is the artist trying to tell us and what is he trying to hide? Well, luckily, you can ask him yourself!
Come and meet Antoni Fałat and his incredible art. And when you know everything you want to know, you can create your own artworks. Will they be as mysterious as his pieces?
The workshop will be led byAnna Owsiany, educator, artist, and painter.
With the special participation of Antoni Fałat, who will also sign exhibition catalogues.
During the workshop children must beaccompanied by an adult. Art supplies are provided by the organiser. Parents/guardians can collect free entry passes at the box office before the start of the workshop.
More about the Antoni Fałat exhibition at the Opera GalleryAnonymous authors of medieval songs comprising the Carmina Burana cantata were not Nazis, and neither was Richard Wagner. They were born too early for that. However, zeitgeist works in mysterious ways: Orff (just like Wagner) was a favoured artists among the Nazis, and his name found itself on the Gottbegnadeten-Liste ('God-gifted list' or 'Important Artist Exempt List'). The piece had its world premiere in 1937 and was not particularly appreciated by the critics, but by the Third Reich leaders – very much so. Currently it seems to enjoy popularity among heavy metal bands. Politics aside, music remains the most important thing, after all. Thanks to Boris Kudlička’s visualizations we are transported from a theatre building into space, ready to reach universal values at superluminal velocity. Worth taking the trip!
