A curator's tour: Fredro in High Spirits
Finissage of the exhibition Fredro in High Spirits
Was Aleksander Fredro a romantic? What did Zofia Skarbek née Jabłonowska have in common with the heroines of The Revenge or Maiden Vows? Which of Fredro's protagonists may be considered his alter ego? Answers to these and other questions will be revealed during the curator's tour of Fredro in High Spirits, an exhibition held by the Theatre Museum to mark the playwright's 230th birthday.
The exhibition showcases unique Fredro memorabilia: original correspondence, photographs, costumes and stage designs for his comedies (including Roman Polański's Papkin costume for Andrzej Wajda's screen adaptation of The Revenge). We will also present six early comedies by Count Fredro and explain why these particular works were selected out of the 39 plays he wrote in his lifetime. The tour is an excellent chance to pay homage to the great actors who portrayed Fredro's characters over the years: Alojzy Żółkowski, Helena Modrzejewska, Jerzy Leszczyński, Ludwik Solski, Mieczysława Ćwiklińska, Jan Świderski, Gustaw Holoubek, Tadeusz Łomnicki, and contemporary artists.
Join Agnieszka Leśniak for a curator's tour of the exhibition on 2 March 2024 at 4:30 or 5:30 p.m. General admission tickets apply.
