Orchestra of the Polish National Opera performs in Dubai
The Orchestra of the Polish National Opera and the Dubai Festival Choir under Patrick Fournillier perform Beethoven's iconic Symphony No. 9 to mark 200 years since the piece was written.
Composed between 1822 and 1824, the work is the last symphony the composer completed and is widely considered a masterpiece of Western classical music. Debuted on 7 May 1824 in Vienna, the Ninth is now among the most frequently performed symphonies in the world. Its last movement, Ode to Joy for four solo singers and choir set to Friedrich Schiller's poem An die Freude and Beethoven's own text has become a popular hymn of unity and jubilation.
