'Welcome to the exhibition of Salome the Dancer and Salome the Varsovian,' quipped Janusz Bogucki when opening my 1973 exhibition at the Współczesna Gallery, which he ran together with his wife Maria at the back of the opera house building. He alluded to my Salome Dancing on the TV Screen, now held by the Muzeum Sztuki Łódź, and Salome with Warsaw in the Background, the only painting from that exhibition that is still in my possession. More than fifty years later, 'Salome the Varsovian' will be guiding my way back to the opera with the pieces I had created before I retired from painting in the summer of 1978. Let it be a sign of continuity.
