The bass Giorgi Chelidze is a graduate of the Tbilisi State Conservatory and was a member of the Bolshoi Theatre Moscow Young Artists Programme.
Upcoming engagements include Zaccaria Nabucco at Polish National Opera in Warsaw, Dulcamara L’elisir d’amore and Zaccaria Nabucco at the Prague National Theatre, Tirésias Œdipe with Banatul Philharmonic of Timişoara and covering Gremin Eugene Onegin at The Metropolitan Opera.
Recent highlights include Bonzo in Madama Butterfly with Kirill Petrenko at the Festspielhaus Baden-Baden and with the Berliner Philharmoniker, Malyuta Skuratov in The Tsar’s Bride at Teatro Regio di Torino, Pimen in Boris Godunov with New National Theatre Tokyo, and Le Bailli in Werther at the Prague National Theatre. At the Tbilisi Opera and Ballet State Theatre, his roles have included the Old Hebrew in Samson et Dalila, Padre Guardiano in La forza del destino, and Sparafucile in Rigoletto.
Earlier seasons saw him as Frère Laurent in Roméo et Juliette at the Prague National Theatre and Festival Immling, as well as Ramfis in Aida and Zaccaria in Nabucco at Festival Immling. He was also featured as Dulcamara in L’elisir d’amore, Pietro in Simon Boccanegra, Colline in La bohème, and Geronte di Ravoir in Manon Lescaut, all at the Tbilisi Opera and Ballet State Theatre. Giorgi Chelidze has appeared at the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow, Gran Teatro Falla Cádiz, and Le Pin Galant Performing Arts Center in France.
