A recipient of the Plácido Domingo Prize, Jorge Lagunes has performed on some of the world's greatest operatic stages: the Royal Opera House, London; Teatro Real, Madrid; Kennedy Center, Washington; New York City Opera; Grand Theater de Genève; and the Israel Philharmonic in Tel Aviv.
He has sung Enrico (Lucia di Lammermoor) at the Opéra de Montréal, Eugene Onegin at the Teatro de Bellas Artes in Mexico City, Germont in Franco Zeffirelli’s new production of La Traviata in Bussetto, Modena, Ferara, and Ravenna, Vidal in a revival of Luisa Fernanda under the baton of Plácido Domingo, Rigoletto in Israel, Nabucco at the Teatro de la Plata. Elsewhere in Europe, significant engagements include Escamillo (Carmen) in Palma de Mallorca, Sharpless (Madama Butterfly) at the Opera de Bilbao, Enrico (Lucia di Lammermoor) at Deutsche Oper Berlin, Amonasro (Aida) at the Cologne Opera, Renato (Un ballo in maschera), Amonasro (Aida) at the Finnish National Opera, and Rigoletto at the State Opera in Budapest.
He regularly appeares at the Washington National Opera and the Los Angeles Opera to sing Gerard (Andrea Chenier), Giorgio (I Puritani), Posa (Don Carlos), Enrico (Lucia di Lammermoor), Germont (La Traviata), and most recently Escamillo (Carmen), on an invitation of Maestro Domingo.
More recently he has sung Nabucco in Schwerin, Conte di Luna (Trovatore) in Mexico City and Mannheim, Iago (Otello), Barnaba (La Gioconda), Macbeth, Simone Boccanegra, Tonio (Pagliacci), Alfio (Cavalleria rusticana), Jack Rance (La fanciulla del West), Marcello (La Bohème), Gelner (La Wally), Escamillo (Carmen), and Enrico (Lucia di Lammermoor), amog others.
