Marigona Qerkezi’s recent critical acclaim came with Leonora Il Trovatore at the Festival Verdi Teatro Regio di Parma, where she was praised for possessing “a dramatic voice, with perfect breath control, expressive phrasing, attentive to every word" –(Music Paper Magazine), “a stunning Leonora” – (Operawire).
Following her double debut as Lucrezia Contarini in I Due Foscari at the Teatro Carlo Felice Genova she is invited to return there in the 2023/24 as Gulnara in Il Corsaro.
Upcoming engagements also include Mimi in La Boheme in Caligari, Aida at the Opera de La Coruña and Warsaw National Opera and in Seville Teatro de la Maestranza, as well as the title role in Norma at Palm Beach Opera and Abigaille in Nabucco at Savonlinna Opera Festival.
Her debut as Elvira in Ernani at Opera Oviedo in 2023 received high praise for her impressive performance, “soprano with incredible power” and “incredible technique” (La Nueva España) with Operawire reporting she was “perfect for the role” (Operawire) .
Recent highlights include Rossini Opera Festival debut and at the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona with the role of Madama Cortese in Il Viaggio a Reims; Anna Bolena at the Lithuanian National Opera, Elvira in Garattini’s televised Ernani in Caligari; Mathilde in Guillaume Tell in Brescia,Cremona,Como; DonnaAnnainDonGiovanniattheNewNationalTheatreinTokyo.In her Swiss debut as Giovanna d’Arco in St. Gallen, Marigona was noted as having an “incredible length of breath and astounding confidence in coloraturas”. – (Il Ponte)
Her Italian debut came with the title role of Lucia di Lammermoor at the Teatro Lirico in Cagliari, a role she reprised at the Teatro Petruzzelli Bari and at the Teatro Nacional de Sao Carlos.
Marigona has collaborated with directors Arnaud Bernard, Emilio Sagi, Grischa Asagaroff, Mario Martone, Elisabetta Courir, and conductors Jacopo Brusa, Michele Spotti, Modestas Pitrenas, Sebastiano Rolli, among others.
Top international prizes include Leyla Gencer Competition, Magda Olivero, Best under 25 Prize in Portofino, Accademia Teatro alla Scala special prize.
