Among Malafii’s upcoming appearances is Pinkerton in Madama Butterfly at Oper Graz, Cavaradossi at the stage of Bern Opera and Opera North, Duca in Rigoletto with Polish National Opera and Bolshoi Theatre Belarus, Don Jose in Carmen, Calaf in Turandot, Vaudemont in Iolanta, Cavaradossi in Tosca among others as an ensemble member of Lviv National Opera.
Other past engagements include Madama Butterfly with Opera Hong Kong, Gabriele Adorno in Simon Boccanegra with the Israeli Opera Tel Aviv, a house debut in Oper Graz with the title role in Don Carlos, and Prinz in Rusalka by Dvorak at Flemish Opera, Duca in Rigoletto at Opera de Lyon and return to Oper Graz for the role of Pinkerton in Madama Butterfly, Don Carlos on the stage of Hungarian State Opera*, Cavaradossi in Tosca at Opera Dijon*, Pinkerton in Madama Butterfly at Opera Mannheim and Bolshoi Theatre Belarus, Riccardo in Un ballo in maschera, Alfredo in La raviata for Hungarian State Opera, Budapest, Macduff in Macbeth, Alfredo in La traviata with Slovak National Opera, Rodolfo in La bohème with Swedish Royal Opera, Baltic State Opera, Gdańsk and Tampere Opera among others. Mykhailo Malafii won the 1st Prize at the 2017 Competizione dell’Opera. He is the prize winner of the 2nd Minsk International Christmas Singing Competition (1st Prize, 2015), 4th Reszke Vocal Competition in Częstochowa, Poland (1st Prize, 2015), 48th International Antonin Dvorak Singing Competition in Karlovy Vary (1st Prize, 2013), International Vocal Forum “Musical Performance and Pedagogy’’ in Italy (1st Prize, 2012), the International Competition “21st Century Art” (solo vocal) in Kyiv-Vorzel (1st Prize, 2012), Competition for the best performance of chamber vocal works on the occasion of the anniversary of Mykola Lysenko in Lviv, Ukraine (1st Prize, 2012), and Oksana Petrusenko International Singing Competition in Kherson, Ukraine (1st Prize, 2009).
A native of Lviv, Ukraine, Mykhailo is a soloist of the ensemble of Lviv National Opera and Ballet Theater. He obtained his Master's degree from the vocal faculty of the Lviv National Music Academy and is currently taking part in a master class with Kaludi Kaludov.
