Olga Pasichnyk

Soprano

Born in Ukraine, Olga Pasichnyk studied vocal performance at the Kiev Conservatoire. In 1992, while a post-grad student at the Fryderyk Chopin Academy of Music in Warsaw, she made her professional debut at the Warsaw Chamber Opera. Four years later she sang Pamina in Mozart’s The Magic Flute at the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées, Paris.

Since then she sang over 50 roles in operas by Monteverdi, Gluck, Handel, Mozart, Weber, Bizet, Rossini, Verdi, Puccini, Debussy, Tchaikovsky, and contemporary composers, in front of audiences of the world’s most renowned venues and on CD, radio and television recordings, winning acclaim from critics and audiences alike. She could be heard at the Opéra National de Paris – Opéra Bastille, Palais Garnier, Théâtre des Champs-Élysées, Théâtre Châtelet, Salle Pleyel in Paris, Concertgebouw  in Amsterdam, Komische Oper Berlin, Berliner Konzerthaus, Berliner Philharmonic, Elbphilharmonie Hamburg, Teatro Real, Auditorio Nacional de Música (Madrid), Bayerische Staatsoper, Münchner Philharmonie, Palais des Beaux-Arts, Théâtre Royal de la Monnaie (Brussels), Theater an der Wien, Bregenzer Festspiele, Grand Théâtre de Genève, Finnish National Opera, Flemish Opera, Tokyo Suntory Hall, and Polish National Opera. She has a vast chamber and recital repertoire, which she performs with her sister, pianist Natalia Piasichnyk.

Ms Pasichnyk has taken part in numerous oratorio and symphony concerts across Europe, in the USA, Canada, Israel, China, Japan, and Australia, performing with such excellent ensembles as the Boston Symphony Orchestra, Belgian National Orchestra, Orquestra Nacional de España i Orquesta Sinfónica de RTVE, English Concert, Wiener Symphoniker, Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France, Orchestre National de France, Les Musiciens du Louvre-Grenoble, Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin, Freiburger Barockorchester, Orchestra of the Eighteenth Century, Rundfunk-Sinfonieorchester Berlin, NDR Bigband under the baton of Fabio Biondi, Ivor Bolton, Andrzej Boreyko, Frans Brüggen, Jean-Claude Casadesus, Charles Dutoit, Mark Elder, René Jacobs, Dmitri Jurowski, Roy Goodman, Christopher Hogwood, Heinz Holliger, Philippe Herreweghe, Kazimierz Kord, Jerzy Maksymiuk, Jean-Claude Malgoire, Marc Minkowski, John Nelson, Kazushi Ono, Krzysztof Penderecki, Trevor Pinnock, Marcello Viotti.

She is a prizewinner of the s’Hertogenbosch Competition (1994), the Mirjam Helin Competition in Helsinki (1999), and the Queen Elisabeth Competition in Brussels (2000). In Poland she was presented with Paszport Polityki (1997), the Polish recording industry award Fryderyk (1997, 2004, 2018), and the Warsaw Autumn Festival’s Orfeusz award (1999). She received the Golden Cross of Merit (2001) and the A. Hiolski Award (2004) for the best female opera singer. In 2005 and 2010 she was nominated for Singer of the Year by Opernwelt. In 2011 she received the annual award of the Polish Minister of Culture and National Heritage, while in 2012 she was presented with the Officer’s Cross of the Order of Merit of the Republic of Poland. The artist has recorded over 60 CDs and DVDs for CD Accord, Dabringhaus und Grimm, Harmonia Mundi, Naxos, and Opus 111.

At the Teatr Wielki – Polish National Opera she has sung Roxana in Szymanowski’s King Roger, Queen of the Night in Mykietyn’s Ignorant i szaleniec, Mélisande in Debussy’s Péleas et Mélisande, Euridice in Gluck’s Orfeo ed Euridice.
