Born in Leicester, UK, Paul Tyers trained at the Rambert Ballet School and the Royal Ballet School. His career has been linked with Scottish Ballet from the start. Having danced a range of leading roles as the company's principal soloist, with time he became a repetiteur, and in 1986 – a ballet master. In 2002 Mr Tyers was appointed assistant artistic director, and in 2005 – Scottish Ballet's deputy artistic director, a function he performs to this day. Since 2009 he has also been artistic director of a BA (Hons) Contemporary Performance Practice programme of the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland Scottish Academy of Music and Drama.
