Tomasz Kuk

Tomasz Piluchowski was educated at the Fryderyk Chopin Academy of Music in Warsaw. He is a prize-winner of the Internationales Gesangswettbewerb in Berlin (Deutsche Oper) and the 12th International Ada Sari Vocal Artisty Competiton in Nowy Sącz, Poland.

Repertoire includes roles in operas by Bizet, Tchaikovsky, Donizetti, Haydn, Kurpiński, Massenet, Moniuszko, Penderecki, Puccini, Smetana, Verdi; operettas and musicals by J. Strauss, Lehár, Bock/Stein, Bernstein; oratorios and cantatas; chamber pieces and songs (Chopin, Karłowicz, Moniuszko, Szymanowski, Penderecki, Berlioz, Schubert, Mahler, Ravel, Schumann and Shostakovich).

Tomasz Piluchowski has collaborated with excellent conductors (Andriy Yurkevych, Keri-Lynn Wilson, Miguel Gómez-Martínez, Lionel Friend, Tadeusz Kozłowski, Marek Moś, Łukasz Borowicz, Jakub Chrenowicz), orchestras (Sinfonia Varsovia, Orchestra of the Beethiven Academy of Kraków, Orchestra of the Teatr Wielki – Polish National Opera) and stage directors (Keith Warner, Mariusz Treliński, Maja Kleczewska, Jerzy Gruza, Emil Wesołowski, Igor Gorzkowski, Jitka Stokalska).

The artist has performed at a range of concerts and festivals across Poland (Warsaw Philharmonic, Polish Radio’s Witold Lutosławski Concert Studio in Warsaw, Poznań Philharmonic, Łódź Philharmonic, Lublin Philharmonic, Witold Lutosławski Chamber Philharmonic in Łomża, International Moniuszko Festival in Kudowa-Zdrój, Musica Sacra Festival in Warsaw) and abroad (Tallin, Lubeck, Stuttgart, Vienna, Lviv). He has sung at operatic galas in Warsaw (Viva Mozart), at the Kammeroper Schloss Rheinsberg, Germany, and in Vienna. He has recorded for Polish Radio and Polish Television.

Since 2009 the tenor has been regularly performing at the Teatr Wielki – Polish National Opera, singing in Mussorgsky’s Boris Godunov, Verdi’s La Traviata, Puccini’s Madama Butterfly, Penderecki’s Devils of z Loudun and Moniuszko’s The Haunted Manor. He is valued for his interpretations of contemporary music. He took part in the world premieres of Aleksander Nowak’s Sudden Rain staged by Maja Kleczewska at the Teatr Wielki – Polish National Opera, Hadrian Filip Tabęcki’s Dzień świra (title role) at the Poznań Opera House and Oresteia after Aeschylus, a production of the Teatr Wielki and the National Theatre in Warsaw set to music by Agata Zubel and staged by Maja Kleczewska.
