Gioachino Rossini was famous not only for his musical talents. He was also a great gourmand. At the age of 37 he gave up composing operas and devoted his undivided attention to pleasing his palate. He would spend his days frequenting restaurants and trying new dishes prepared by his friends. He was a particularly big fan of truffles and foie gras. You will find a selection of historical recipes for the composer’s favourite dishes in the programme of Il turco in Italia soon to open on our stage.
Two of them – hen alla Rossini and pasta alla Rossini – are featured on postcards to be found in some Italian restaurants in Warsaw. Each postcard entitles you to buy a ticket to a performance of Il turco at a 20% discount (except for the opening night). Discounted tickets are available at the opera’s box office only.
