SYMPHONIC PADEREWSKI

Not only was he a dazzling pianist but also an acclaimed composer. On the eve of the first premiere of the 2018/19 season, we would like to invite you to a unique concert of the most enchanting of Paderewski's pieces for piano and orchestra as well as his Overture for Symphony Orchestra performed by one of the best living pianists, Jonathan Plowright, whose very intimate interpretation of Paderewski's works is sure to leave the audience with unforgettable memories. 7 October, 7 pm.

MANRU

The only opera Paderewski composed was staged 100 years ago at the Metropolitan Opera in New York. It remains the opny Polish opera to have been put on there. Now Marek Weiss brings you a new take on the story. Grzegorz Nowak conducts. The production is a collaboration with the Poznań Opera House and opens on 12 October 2018. Subsequent performances: 14 and 16 October.

PADEREWSKI. ANATOMIA GENIUSZU

To better acquaint our audience with the man behind the name, Opera Gallery has mounted an exhibition presenting the most interesting artefacts documenting the famous Pole's spectacular artistic and political accomplishments, including his personal possessions, such as a tailcoat, inkwell, or a Louis Vuitton toiletries kit designed and manufactured for Paderewski. The exhibition is open for viewing from Thursday to Saturday, 10 am to 5 pm (admission: 1 zł). Ticket holders may see the exhibition for free an hour before every performance and during intermissions.

I.J.PADEREWSKI BY ALFRED NOSSIG

'Those auburn locks! They are the ostensible reason for [Paderewski's] phenomenal success repeatedly cited by other pianists,' writes Alfred Nossing, Paderewski's friend and the author of the libretto for Manru, in his vivid portrayal of the great man. The fascinating firsthand account of Paderewski's impressive life and artistic career is now available at our boutique and online (in Polish).

Also available is Paderewski Superstar, a children's book accompanying the exhibition.
