Phenomenal Polish opera singer, actor and Home Army fighter, Bernard Ładysz died on 25 July 2020 at the age of 98. The funeral service will take place on Wednesday, 5 August, 10 a.m., at the Field Cathedral of the Polish Army, Warsaw, following which the deceased will be taken to the Powązki Military Cemetery, Warsaw, where he will be laid to rest in the Avenue of the Distinguished. To mark the occasion, the Polish National Opera has opened an online condolence book on its website, where the Artist's friends, colleagues and fans are able to share their memories of the great Master and pay their respects to him.
Bernard Ładysz was associated with the Warsaw opera house for a few decades. He shot to international fame in 1956, having won the international singing competition in Vermicelli, Italy. His repertoire included the greatest opera roles ever written, including Prince Gremin, Boris Godunov, Skołuba or Stolnik.
