'I've danced under many conductors, some really extraordinary, but I've never met one that knows our craft so well,' says Maksim Woitiul, first soloist of the Polish National Ballet, when asked about Alexei Baklan. Since 1987 Mr Baklan has been a conductor with the National Opera of Ukraine. Audiences in Warsaw will soon have a chance to watch him at work in Don Quixote, then Swan Lake.
