The International Opera Awards, or Operatic Oscars, as they are sometimes dubbed, will be presented for the sixth time this year. The Teatr Wielki – Polish National Opera has been nominated three times in row. Last year our production of Żeleński’s Goplana was names the best rediscovered work. This year we are up for the education and outreach award. What is more, the Wielki’s artistic director, Mariusz Treliński has been nominated for the best director accolade. Another Pole with a chance to win this year is tenor Piotr Beczała, nominated for best singer. Winners will be announced on 9 April 2018 at the London Coliseum.
