In these gruesome time, our thoughts and hearts are with our Ukrainian artists – our friends who make this theatre what it is – and the whole Ukrainian nation. We look with admiration at those who stayed in their motherland and are valiantly defending it. We hope our acts of solidarity give you strength in the face of the tragic events.
Deeply shaken by the atrocious aggression against Ukraine, the artists of the Polish National Ballet spontaneously dedicated the Sunday performance of Le Corsaire to our courageous neighbours, which Krzysztof Pastor, director of the Polish National Ballet, announced to the audience before the curtain-up.
We will also provide accommodation at the opera house for Ukrainian mothers and children fleeing the war and collect essentials (bottled water, personal hygiene products, medical supplies, etc.) to be sent to those in need by the local authorities.
In a symbolic gesture of solidarity, together with the National Theatre, we will light up the building we share in the colours of the Ukrainian flag.
