Dear Audience Members,
The year 2020 has been a challenge and a test for culture. It has made it difficult for us – creators – to come not contact with the audience. The performing arts cannot exist without the artists or without the recipients. Live interactions with the viewers are the essence of our work.
After the beginning of the spring lockdown we could feel your presence thanks to your countless reactions and comments on our social media and daily visits to our websites, teatrwielki.pl and vod.teatrwielki.pl, in impressive numbers.
The broadcasts of our performances – Carmen, The Sleeping Beauty, Rigoletto, The Tempest, Creations 12, and recitals by Olga Pasichnyk and Tomasz Konieczny – as well as other content available for free on demand were seen by hundreds of thousands of people and had almost a million views in total.
Pleased as we are with the response and seeing the need for more of our productions to be shown over the Internet, we want to continue to be available to you online. Our first autumn stream – the ballet Casanova in Warsaw – was watched by around 14,000 viewers.
In December and January we will treat you to pre-Christmas chamber concerts, carol concerts, a New Year's Eve concert, a New Year ballet gala, and opera productions. A detailed schedule will be announced on Monday, 7 December.
The year 2020 is slowly drawing to an end, yet our lives still have not returned to normal. The pandemic has shaken our plans for the 2020/21 season. In order to be able to show you the originally planned productions, we have made changes to the programme from January 2021 onwards. The premiere of Mariusz Treliński's production of Hindemith's Cardillac has been moved to 23 April 2021. We have also made small corrections to the schedule of revival productions. We will start the new year with a run of Rigoletto and hope to treat you to Tosca afterwards.
Tickets to January performances will go on sale on 7 December. The sale of tickets to February performances will start in January.
You may also buy a prepaid card which can be redeemed in our box office or boutique. It will also make a wonderful holiday gift for your loved ones. Prepaid cards are available in the box office.
We hope this flexible scheme will make it easier for us to react to the changing circumstances.
