Having recently performed at the Bolshoi in Moscow and the Harris Theater in Chicago, the Hamburg Ballet is now guesting in Tokyo's Bunka Kaikan. The company has already shown John Neumeier's ballet Liliom after a play by Ferenc Molnár set to music by Michel Legrand, and is currently performing The World of John Neumeier gala featuring the highlights of the renowned choreographer's ballets. The Hamburg company's visit to Tokyo will culminate with A Midsummer Night's Dream, the exact choreography we have been presenting here in Warsaw for the past three years.
Vladimir Yaroshenko will perform as Theseus-Oberon on 11 and 13 March, partnering one of the stars of the Hamburg Ballet, Hélène Bouchet (Hippolyta-Titania). The French ballerina is a laureate of the Varna International Ballet Competition and winner of the prestigious Benois de la Danse award (Moscow), who dances all the leading roles in the Hamburg company's productions. John Neumeier's invitation is a great honour for our principal soloist and the Polish National Ballet as a whole. We had a chance to work with the famous choreographer in 2013 and hope to welcome him back in Warsaw in 2018. (pch)
