The official presentation of these prestigious awards took place on Saturday, 29 March at the Royal Castle in Warsaw. The winners of Wiktor 2013 awards included many personalities involved in the work of public television TVP.
The winner in the best television presenter category was Piotr Kraśko from TVP’s Wiadomości news programme and TVP Info station. In the television personality of the year 2013 category the winner was the anchor of TVP 1’s Świat się kręci programme, Agata Młynarska.
Other award-winners included Deputy Prime Minister Elżbieta Bieńkowska in the politician of the year category and Kamil Stoch in the athlete of the year category.
The Wiktor nominees are proposed by television stations and the winners are chosen by the Wiktor Academy composed of previous winners. The awards, in 10 categories, have been presented since 1985; an additional award is granted by the public.
The Wiktor is a small bronze statuette designed and made by Andrzej Renes.
President Bronisław Komorowski, who received a Super Wiktor for lifetime achievement, pointed out that this year’s Wiktors fall on the 25th anniversary of Poland regaining its independence.
