The festival's theme, explored this year by dance theatres of the USA, Italy, Spain, the Netherlands, Hungary and Israel, is different faces of crisis.
The first to be presented at Teatr Wielki's small stage (Młynarski Hall) will be Venere performed by Spain's Daniel Abreu Company, whose output reaches nearly 50 choreographies. 'Venere' is Italian for Venus, used here as a reference both to the planet's coldness and barrenness, and the ancient goddess symbolising life, faith, and love.
Second up will be a double bill by artLab J Dance (USA), consisting of Dream City, inspired by the story of Detroit and discussing the excitement and great expectations brought on by technological innovation, followed by No Right Answer about facing mutually exclusive choices and the way they guide our life.
