Jadwiga Maria Jarosiewicz: From the Planet of Mozart

• Jadwiga Maria Jarosiewicz is a painter. She also designs sets and costumes, mostly for music theatre. She was a student of Professor Andrzej Kreutz Majewski. She made her debut as set and costume designer in Weber's Der Freischütz in Kraków in 1978. Since then she has worked on over eighty productions in Poland, Japan, China, and Cuba. For the Teatr Wielki in Warsaw she designed sets for Maria Fołtyn's stagings of Moniuszko's Paria (1980), Halka (1995), and Śpiewnik domowy (2007); Małgorzata Dziewulska'sproduction of Stravinsky's Soldier's Tale (1982), Piotr Gusiew's staging of Tchaikovski's Sleeping Beauty (1983) and Natalia Makarova's staging Ludwig Minkus's La Bayadère (2004). The exhibition showcases costumes and designs gifted by the artist to the Theatre Museum as well as pieces from private collections.
