Play it to me... Gustaw Holoubek in memoriam
An evening of poetry and music
Notice: The concert starts at 8, not 6 pm.
'Nothing happens on stage without the presence of the word. Everything stems from it – all movement and activity, gesture and everything that is necessary for building a role. We know the piece, its meaning and the reason for its presentation, we know our own part in it, the nature of the character performed and their fate. All that is left is communicating this. (…) Far from usurping the text’s author, we relate the history of the presented piece from an observer’s perspective and only from that safe distance can we afford to commit all our forces to justifying the logic and meaning behind the work,' wrote Gustaw Holoubek about the role of the word. But besides words he was also a great admirer of music. From this fact, the idea of cyclical meetings with works by composers he particularly loved and appreciated was born. The first evening took place on the fifth anniversary of his death – not long ago we celebrated the tenth. The passing of time has not changed anything. Wishing to continue to preserve this precious tradition we have planned another chamber concert among the circle of his friends and invited guests.
