Taking It Personally: Olga Pasichnyk
Agata Kwiecińska talks to artists about Stanisław Moniuszko
Taking It Personally is back in the Moniuszko Lounge after the summer break. This time we will welcome Olga Pasichnyk, a singer who made her name internationally as an interpreter of soprano roles in Monteverdi's and Handel's operas. She is also a seasoned chamber singer who selects pieces for the programmes of her recitals with great meticulousness.
To mark the bicentenary of Stanisław Moniuszko's birth, the singer will perform at the Teatr Wielki a selection of songs by the composer of The Haunted Manor as well as 'the father of Ukrainian opera', Mykola Lysenko, juxtaposing the musical heritage of her two motherlands, Poland and Ukraine.
The recital is a great opportunity to talk to Olga Pasichnyk about national identity in music as well as the phenomenon of Stanisław Moniuszko and his oeuvre. We will also try to find out how composers who are not generally known in Europe should be promoted and if they (and their music) actually need promoting. The artist will also take questions from the audience.
Free admission. Please note that the number of places is limited (60 seats)
