On 9 October, two weeks before the opening of Fidelio on our stage, we will invite our audiences to a meeting with Beethoven at his finest. You will hear the composer’s Piano Concerto No. 4 interpreted by international star of the piano, Jan Lisiecki. The young virtuoso who has been scoring triumphs on the global music scene ever since he performed Chopin’s piano concertos at the Chopin and his Europe Festival in Warsaw at the age of 13. Today, at 26, he is the youngest artist of the most important classical music record label, Deutsche Grammophon. Greatly popular and welcomed enthusiastically by lovers of music across all continents, he consistently follows his own artistic path, dazzling with his sensitivity, musicality, intelligence, and insightful interpretations during recitals, chamber concerts, and performances with orchestra.
The concert’s programme also includes Beethoven’s Egmont overture and 7th Symphony, which will be performed by the Orchestra of the Polish National Opera under the baton of its music director Patrick Fournillier. The repertoire, however unusual for the ensemble, is one they cherish greatly, not unlike the remainder of the musical world.
The event is the first in a cycle of symphony concerts launched by Patrick Fournillier; it is also part of the Premiere Prelude series of concerts that explore the work of composers whose operas and ballets are about to open on the opera house's big stage. It is a special treat for the lovers of symphony music, piano performance, and opera that is sure to set the mood for the upcoming premiere.
