Hansel and Gretel
Engelbert Humperdinck
Engelbert Humperdinck’s fairy tale opera Hansel and Gretel is probably the most often staged Grimms’ story. No other opera has been translated into so many languages, including Polish. This production, directed by Sołtanowicz, will transport children into a world of musical fantasy and allow the adult chaperons to be children again, if only for a moment.
Hansel and Gretel takes the audience on a journey into a fantastical universe inhabited by the Fairy, the Dream Sprite, Elves and Baba Yaga. The hostess of the gingerbread cottage turns out not to be as friendly and welcoming as expected, but fortunately, as it often is the case in fairy tales, everything ends well.
