Butterfly in the Land of Shadows
Educational performance for young audiences
A moving story of love, hope and destiny, told through opera singing, shadow theatre, and dance. Inspired by Giacomo Puccini's opera Madama Butterfly, the story transports the audience to Japan, where the butterfly-like Cio-Cio-San falls in love with the American sailor Pinkerton. Conceived by Monika Rokicka and Anna Hop, this unique artistic project is an innovative adaptation of Puccini's opera, which introduces young audiences to the world of opera in an accessible and engaging form. It is also a tale about growing up and dreams that give you the courage to spread your wings.
The performance features young artists and creatives, including members of the Opera Academy Young Talents Development Programme, dancers, and gifted creators of music, theatre, and the visual arts.
