Memoirs of Lorenzo da Ponte written in Mozart's music
An opera fantasy
A unique Opera Academy production that brings to life the autobiographical writings of the brilliant librettist Lorenzo da Ponte through the immortal music of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.
The audience witnesses a fascinating dialogue between the two geniuses. Excerpts from the memoirs of Lorenzo da Ponte, a Venetian free-thinker, friend of Casanova, and the first professor of Italian studies in New York, are juxtaposed with the music of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.
The programme centres on the Mozart–Da Ponte trilogy and the creative process that led to the development of three works that changed the history of music: The Marriage of Figaro, Don Giovanni, and Così fan tutte.
The cast comprises members of the Opera Academy Young Talent Development Programme.
