Beth Taylor

mezzo-soprano

Beth Taylor is one of today’s most electrifying mezzo-sopranos. In the last few years, she has appeared with many of the world’s leading orchestras, in repertoire including Beethoven’s 9th Symphony, Elgar’s The Dream of Gerontius, Mahler’s 2nd and 8th Symphonies and Das Lied von der Erde. She has sung with the Berliner Philharmoniker, Wiener Philharmoniker, and the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra. She also sang with all of Munich’s leading orchestras within just a couple of months: the Bavarian Radio Symphony, the Munich Philharmonic, the Bayerische Staatskapelle, and the Munich Radio Orchestra.

In the 2025/26 season, she made her debut at Gran Teatre del Liceu in Mahler’s Eighth. Other opera houses and festivals she performed at include Opernhaus Zürich, Deutsche Oper Berlin, Oper Frankfurt, the Salzburg Festival and Glyndebourne, where her roles have included Erda (Das Rheingold), Anna (Les Troyens), Arsace (Semiramide) and Falliero (Bianca e Falliero). She also gave solo recitals at the Edinburgh International Festival, the Festival d’Aix-en-Provence and Wigmore Hall, among others.

In 2026/27, Beth makes her Covent Garden debut as Bradamante (Alcina), sings her first Dido (Dido and Aeneas) at Temple Music and appears with orchestras such as the Los Angeles Philharmonic, London Philharmonic, Royal Philharmonic, London Symphony, Bergen Philharmonic, BBC Symphony, Wiener Symphoniker, Deutsche Radio Philharmonie, Royal Swedish Philharmonic and Pygmalion. Recitals take her to the Bliss Song Series in Cambridge and Park Avenue Armory in New York City, among others.

Beth Taylor is a grand finalist of the 2023 BBC Cardiff Singer of the World competition, the winner of the 2022 Elizabeth Connell Award, 3rd prize winner at the 2019 Wigmore Hall Competition and winner of the 2018 Gianni Bergamo Classical Music Awards.

A graduate of the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and The Open University, Beth's teachers include Jennifer Larmore, Margaret Izatt and Iain Paton.
Beth has collaborated with conductors including Gustavo Dudamel, Sir John Eliot Gardiner, Edward Gardner, Andris Nelsons, John Nelson, Kirill Petrenko, Raphaël Pichon, Sir Simon Rattle, and Sir Donald Runnicles.
