Guido Sarno

Ballet Master & Teacher

Guido Sarno was born in Naples, where he enrolled at the Ballet School and Lyceum of Mara Fusco in 1996 and later won a scholarship in 2003 at the Rudra Béjart School, Lausanne. He had a diverse and distinguished professional career, and was recognized as a superb leading dancer. He worked for the following ballet companies: Béjart Ballet Lausanne, Teatro alla Scala Milan, Ballet de l’Opéra de Bordeaux, and then as Principal Dancer for the Ballet de l’Opéra de Nice and the Czech National Ballet.

He has performed many leading roles in the classical, dramatic, and contemporary repertory, including works by such acclaimed choreographers like: George Balanchine (Theme and Variations, La Chaconne, Allegro Brillante, The Prodigal Son), Jiří Kylián (Symphony of Psalms, Six Dances, Click-Pose-Silence, Soldier's Mass), Nacho Duato (Por Vos Muero, Gnawa), Jacopo Godani (Reflections on the Fate of Human Forms), Ohad Naharin (Decadance), Michael Corder (The Snow Queen), Kenneth Greve (Swan Lake), Maurice Béjart (Cantate 51, Bolero, Ciao Federico, 7 Danses Grèques), Javier Torres (La Bayadère, The Sleeping Beauty), William Forsythe (In the Middle, Somewhat Elevated), Alexander Ekman (Cacti), Katarzyna Kozielska (Aspects), Yuri Vamos (The Nutcracker, A Christmas Carol, Romeo and Juliet), Gene Kelly (Pas de Dieux), Eric Vu-An (Raymonda, Coppélia, Don Quixote), Michal Stípa (La Bayadère, Giselle, Paquita), Glen Teley (Voluntaries, The Rite of Spring), Uwe Scholz (7th Symphony in A Major), Serge Lifar (Suite en Blanc, Icarus), Oscar Araiz (Rhapsody), Lucinda Childs (Oceana), Rudolf Nureyev (The Nutcracker), Frederick Ashton (The Dream), Charles Jude (Don Quixote, Giselle, Coppélia, Swan Lake, Romeo and Juliet, The Nutcracker), Heinz Spoerli (Europa Riconosciuta), Léonide Massine (The Rite of Spring, Tricorne), Mikhail Fokine (Petrushka), Bronislava Nijinska (Les Noces), Thierry Malandin (Valse), Petr Zuska (Romeo and Juliet, The Nutcracker, Solo for Three), Radu Poklitaru (Rain), Václav Kuneš (Temporary Condition).

After retiring from dancing, he gained recognition as a guest coach at prestigious venues worldwide. He has been a noted freelance ballet master and assistant to several choreographers since 2018 and is also a choreographer. He also has staged and coached many ballet repertory pieces in various companies, including the Estonian National Ballet, Ljubljana Slovene National Theatre Opera and Ballet, Opéra de Nice, Ballet du Capitole Toulouse, Theater Basel, Poznań Opera Ballet, Teatro San Carlo di Napoli, Teatro Massimo di Palermo, Tatar State Opera Kazan, and Balletto del Sud.

With the start of the 2024/2025 season, he became a member of the ballet master staff of the Polish National Ballet.
