Julia Skrzynecka holds a degree in stage design from the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw. She has designed the stage and costumes for over forty theatre, musical and opera productions in Poland and abroad. In 2011 she won an audience award for the stage design for The Wizzard of Oz directed directed by Jarosław Kilian at the Juliusz Słowacki Theatre in Kraków, while in 2012 she received the Teresa Roszkowska Award for Young Stage Designer from the ITI-UNESCO and Leon Schiller Foundation. Her set design for Robert Bonder’s choreography Stabat Mater/Harnasie set to Szymanowski’s music (Opera Nova, Bydgoszcz, Poland) received the Jan Kiepura Award in 2017. She has been working at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw’s Operatic Stage Design Department for the last couple of years. At the Teatr Wielki – Polish National Opera she designed sets for Persona with Diana Marszałek and costumes for Nevermore…? (part of the 1914 triple bill).
