Magdalena Idzik graduated from the Fryderyk Chopin Academy of Music in Warsaw, having studied singing with Professor Małgorzata Marczewska. She went on the train in Milan under Vittorio Terranova and in London with Joy Mammen. She has received the 'Promocja talentu' (Talent Promotion) fellowship awarded by Ewa Czeszejko-Sochacka's foundation. In 2001 she completed a training at the Rossini Academy (Italy) under renowned conductor Alberto Zedda.
She made a debut at the Teatr Wielki – Polish National Opera in Moniuszko's Śpiewnik domowy directed by Maria Fołtyn. Her rich repertoire embraces mezzo-soprano roles in operas such as: Tchaikovsky's Eugene Onegin, Humperdinck's Hänsel und Gretel, Moniuszko's The Haunted Manor and Countess, Mozart's The Wedding of Figaro and The Magic Flute, Kurpiński's Cracovians and Highlanders, Donizetti's Lucia di Lammermoor, Ptaszyńska's Magiczny Doremik, Żeleński's Janek, Puccini's La Rondine and Madame Butterfly, Rossini's The Journey to Reims, R. Strauss's Salome, Bizet's Carmen, or Verdi's Rigoletto. She also sang Hudel in the musical Fiddler on the Roof. on an invitation from the Rossini Opera Festival, Ms Idzik sang Maddalena in The Journey to Reims in Pesaro. Together with the company of the Teatr Wielki – Polish National Opera, she guested in Cyprus, Japan, and Spain.
What is more, performs songs, oratoros and cantatas in Poland and abroad (Amsterdam, Brussels, Cologne, Luxembourg, Paris, Valencia, New York City, Toronto, and Tokyo). She has worked with conductors such as Łukasz Borowicz, Tomasz Bugaj, Jacek Kaspszyk, Kazimierz Kord, Michał Nestorowicz, Marcin Nałęcz-Niesiołowski, Tadeusz Wojciechowski, Mirosław Jacek Błaszczyk, Alberto Zedda, Marcello Rota, Will Crutchfield, Antonino Fogliani, Valery Gergiev, Tiziano Severini, and renowned directors Mariusz Treliński, Marta Domingo, Janusz Józefowicz, Achim Freyer, Martin Ottava, and Emilio Sagi. A highlight in her career was singing Mozart's Requiem during a concert for Queen Fabiola of Belgium on the fifth anniversary of King Baudouin's death. Ms Idzik also performed during the famous concert of Andrea Bocelli in the Grand Theatre of Łódź, Poland, a concert in memory of Giuseppe Sinopoli (Pisa, Italy) and the gala Gwiazdy dla Europy (Stars for Europe) conducted by Argentinian tenor and conductor, José Cura.
