Natalia Kawalek studied in Warsaw, Rome as well as at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna. She is a laureate of the renowned Hilde Zadek voice competition. She made her Austrian debut in Gluck's Iphigénie en Aulide at the Theater an der Wien, where she subsequently could be heard as Virtù in Monteverdi's L'incoronazione di Poppea, as well as in the new production of Macbeth alongside Placido Domingo. Furthermore, she attracted attention at the Theater an der Wien's New Year's Eve Gala, 3 Mezzi, alongside Angelika Kirchschlager und Anne Sofie von Otter.
During the 2014/15 and 2015/16 seasons she was a member of the Theater an der Wien's opera studio JET, where she excelled as Annio (La clemenza di Tito), Armida (Rinaldo), Conception (L'heure espagnole) and Carmen. She made her debuts at the Innsbruck Festival of Early Music and the Glyndebourne Festival (2016), where she shone as Cherubino (The Marriage of Figaro). Most recently, Natalia Kawalek could be heard as Moniuszko’s Halka (Vilnius version) at the Opera Rara Festival in Kraków. Future engagements include further productions at Theater an der Wien, including Hermia in Britten's Midsummer Night's Dream.
Natalia Kawalek is a laureate of the Competition for Baroque Opera Pietro Antonio Cesti and closely collaborates with the Polish period instrument ensemble Il Giardino d' Amore.
