Piotr Buszewski appears regularly at many of the top houses around the world such as the Metropolitan Opera, Opernhaus Zurich and Semperoper Dresden and is praised by critics for his magnificent clear ringing tenor, nobility of tone and captivating stage presence.
This season sees Buszewski return to the Metropolitan Opera to sing Alfredo in La traviata, to the Oper Leipzig to sing the Duke of Mantua in Rigoletto, to the Semperoper Dresden as Fadinard in a new production of Nino Rota’s Il cappello di paglia di Firenze and to the Teatr Wielki - Polish National Opera as Rodolfo in La bohème. He will also sing Stefan in The Haunted Manor for Wroclaw Opera and Kosta Guzi in Wyrok for the Poznań Opera House
Recent highlights include his performances for the Metropolitan Opera as Narraboth in Salome and Tamino in The Magic Flute and his house debuts at the Opernhaus Zurich, singing Edgardo in Lucia di Lammermoor, the Semperoper Dresden, singing Alfredo in La traviata. He has also sung Cassio in Otello and Alfredo in La traviata for the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma, Duke of Mantua in Rigoletto and Ein Sänger in Der Rosenkavalier for the Oper Leipzig, Prince in a new production of Rusalka for the Théâtre du Capitole du Toulouse, Rinuccio in Gianni Schicchi for San Diego Opera, Fadinard Il cappello di paglia for the Oper Graz as well as Alfredo in La traviata, Rodolfo in La Boheme and Stefan in The Haunted Manor with the Teatr Wielki Warsaw. On the concert stage he has appeared with the Warsaw Philharmonic performing Dvorak Stabat Mater.
Buszewski made his debut appearances at the Deutsche Staatsoper, Berlin as Italian singer in Der Rosenkavalier and at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden as Cassio in Otello and the Metropolitan Opera as Chevalier de la Force in Dialogues of the Carmelites. Previously he has appeared as Ismaele in Nabucco, Nemorino in L’elisir d’amore, Duke in Rigoletto and Chevalier de la Force, and he sang Rodolfo in La bohème and Nadir in The Pearl Fishers for Wrocław Opera. Other recent engagements have also included Tybalt in Roméo et Juliette for Atlanta Opera, Camille in The Merry Widow in Hong Kong, and Nemorino in Leipzig.
He is a graduate of the acclaimed Academy of Vocal Arts where he sang Edgardo Lucia di Lammermoor, Prince Rusalka, and Ferrando Così fan tutte.
Among his many awards, Buszewski received first prize in the 2019 Loren Zachary Competition, three prizes at the Moniuszko Competition, including Audience Prize, third prize in the Zinka Milanov International Voice Competition, Special Prize at the Otto Edelmann Voice Competition and second prize in the Marcella Sembrich International Voice Competition. He was a finalist of the 2019 Operalia Competition and a finalist in the National Council Awards of the Metropolitan Opera.
